{"id":302,"date":"2022-05-05T22:59:38","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T20:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aphr.ifil.uz.zgora.pl\/?p=302"},"modified":"2022-05-05T22:59:39","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T20:59:39","slug":"adrian-haburas-visit-at-the-university-of-edinburgh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.aphr.ifil.uz.zgora.pl\/?p=302","title":{"rendered":"Adrian Habura&#8217;s Visit at the University of Edinburgh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In the second half of April, a member of our research group, Adrian Habura, travelled to Edinburgh to visit the School of Philosophy, Psychology &amp; Language Science (PPLS) at the University of Edinburgh and attend two conferences there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The first conference was organized by the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/75466348\/NAAP_2022_Meeting_Programme_University_of_Edinburgh_\" target=\"_blank\">Northern Association for Ancient Philosophy<\/a> (NAAP) and took place on the 19th and 20th of April. Habura had there an opportunity to listen to talks focused on various issues in the history of ancient philosophy and its reception. At the end of the first day, there was a special session devoted to the memory of Sarah Broadie (1941-2021), an English philosopher and expert in ancient philosophy, focusing on both ancient and contemporary ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The second conference was organized by the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bshp.org.uk\/events\/bshp-annual-conference\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bshp.org.uk\/events\/bshp-annual-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\">British Society for History of Philosophy<\/a> and took place in the building of the Royal Society of Edinburgh between 21th and 23th of April. Some sessions there were focused on issues in ancient philosophy. This conference too had a special section devoted to Sarah Broadie and especially to her book,\u00a0<em>Plato&#8217;s Sun-Like Good<\/em> (2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.aphr.ifil.uz.zgora.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220421_190233a.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-306\" width=\"534\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.aphr.ifil.uz.zgora.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220421_190233a.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.aphr.ifil.uz.zgora.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220421_190233a-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.aphr.ifil.uz.zgora.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/20220421_190233a-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Although A. Habura did not deliver his paper at the conferences, he gave a talk:\u00a0<em>W\u0142adys\u0142aw Tatarkiewicz (1886-1980). Life and Writings &#8211; Reception of Aristotle &#8211; Ethics<\/em>, which was presented at the research seminar to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/profile\/damian-caluori\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Damian Caluori<\/a> and Ph.D. students. Habura outlined Tatarkiewicz&#8217;s biography and his works referring to Aristotle&#8217;s thought. The main point was to sketch the Stagirite&#8217;s influence on Tatarkiewicz&#8217;s ethical considerations. The paper was subjected to a discussion and Habura received a valuable and helpful feedback, especially from D. Habura&#8217;s visit in Edinburgh was possible thanks to the grant from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/bednarowskitrust.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The W.
